Discover tips on how to look and feel your best in today's business world. This section contains attire, body language and communication tips. |

APPROPRIATE BUSINESS ATTIRE
All situations and professions do not demand the same look. One way to test the appropriateness of a look is to ask yourself the question, "What message am I sending by my look? If I were the client, based on how I am dressed and my grooming, would I want to do business with me?" |
THE ROLE OF COLOR IN YOUR BUSINESS WARDROBE
Color plays an important role in sending messages. The darker the color the more power the garment implies and the more authoritative the look. |
FIGURE CHALLENGES
Vertical lines elongate the silhouette making the body look taller and slimmer, where horizontal design details add fullness to the body and makes it look shorter.
Shoulder pads balance wide hips on a woman and will balance a large stomach on a man.
Dark colors recede, making the area appear smaller. Lighter, brighter colors appear to advance toward the viewer and make the area appear larger.

OPEN BODY LANGUAGE
Open posture communicates that you are open to the ideas being presented and the person expressing them. |
PERSONAL SPACE
Every person is "encased" in a bubble of personal space which varies with culture and degree of acquaintance. In the United States, a good distance for business communicating is approximately 3 feet between the speaker and listener. When you invade someone's personal space, a person will show his discomfort by moving away from you. |
